About the Guest Speaker
Dr Lindsay Wells is a Lecturer in the Discipline of ICT and a researcher in the Games and Creative Technologies Research Group. He is interested in the areas of Serious Games, Gamification, Player Motivation and Experience, Behaviour Change, Human-Computer Interaction, and Artificial Intelligence.
Dr Wells teaches Games Fundamentals and Mobile Application Development at the University of Tasmania and has developed a range of innovative and engaging tools for online teaching.
Dr Wells completed his Bachelor, Honours, and PhD at the University of Tasmania, studying the impact of various game design techniques on player motivation in the pursuit of developing effective and impactful serious game interventions for behaviour change.
He has been teaching in various roles since 2013, first as a tutor and now in an ongoing position as Lecturer. Dr Wells was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Expanded Perception and Interaction Centre (EPICentre) at the University of New South Wales from 2019 to 2021 where he studied Artificial Intelligence for Wargaming scenarios.
