[What will you learn?] [Keynote speaker- Lindy McKeown] [Keynote presentation] [Program]

What will you learn?

Some new online technologies collectively referred to as Web 2.0 are changing our world. Web 2.0 technologies use the web as their underlying platform, and users own and contribute the information that feed the technologies.

Blogs, wikis, YouTube, Flickr, social networking technologies…what are all these things? What impact are they having on society? How can they be used in education?

This conference focuses on how schools can make use of freely available Web 2.0 technologies to help improve teaching and learning.

Lindy is joining us as keynote speaker and conference colleague, mentor and critical friend. A Baby boomer by age, Lindy is almost a digital native. She began her teaching career as a teacher librarian in primary schools and went on to be one of the pioneers in ICT in education and in particular in online learning. Lindy has received much recognition including the 2006 ISTE Outstanding Leader of the Year
Lindy’s Second Life
Lindy is currently researching the use of 3D online environments. She is doing this as a PhD candidate with the University of Southern Queensland and so these days she spends most of her working life in the 3D world of Second Life. Her character there is Decka Mah.  Decka Mah has been invited as a keynote speaker for an upcoming conference in Second Life on the use of 3D worlds in education . Lindy has also contributed to a book on Second Life in the form of an interview with Decka Mah.
